Handling Practical Matters

The practical matters following the loss of a spouse can feel overwhelming. Funeral details. Legal matters. Financial decisions. It’s helpful to create a checklist of tasks that need attention, such as managing finances, updating legal documents, and handling household responsibilities. Take things one step at a time and don’t hesitate to seek help from professionals, such as financial advisors or attorneys. Friends and family members can help you. And it is okay to ask them to do some things for you.  Delegate tasks when possible and give yourself grace to take breaks. Prioritize what needs immediate attention and leave less urgent matters for later. Staying organized can help reduce stress and give you a sense of control during a chaotic time.
