Learning to Trust Again After Loss: A Soft Place to Land
Apr 15, 2025
When you lose your spouse, trust can feel like a fragile thing. Trust in the future, trust in others, even trust in yourself—it all feels shaken, like the ground beneath you has given way. Rebuilding that trust takes time, patience, and, most of all, a sense of safety.
After a loss, it’s natural to feel hesitant to let others in. You might worry about being judged for your emotions, or you might fear that others won’t truly understand. You might even question whether it’s worth the effort to trust again when the pain of loss still feels so fresh.
But trust doesn’t have to be rebuilt all at once. It can start small—with one conversation, one moment of vulnerability, one step toward allowing someone to support you. Finding a “soft place to land” can make all the difference—a person who will hold your grief gently and meet you where you are, without expectations or judgment.
As a grief companion, I aim to be that safe space for you. Someone you can trust with your story, your emotions, and your healing process—no matter how messy or uncertain it feels.
Trust may feel fragile right now, but it’s not gone. Together, we can rebuild it, one small step at a time.
